Old Business

Jay Maritz reported that 66 counties submitted grants for 911 wireless more than

expected with the amount of around $39 million this number is encouraging that money

might not be cut. Continue to check the PSC website in June which is when decisions

should be sent out. NENA and APCO is continuing to work with legislation and once

wireless 911 is implemented there might be a good shot at recurring charges being

covered. Land lines are paid maybe wireless too.

We need to capture success stories for examples to show the legislature the importance of

the wireless technology.

VoiP issue – dealers are not forth coming with true 911 information, it is not enhanced.

SBC has the technology and is starting to offer the service.

Rebanding of 800 in the state will begin on June 25

The draft of the Bylaws will be ready for the July APCO meeting. To be looked at and

reviewed. Also consider chapter level for state recognition.

New Business

Dictaphone for Public Safety has been bought by NICE. There should be a smooth

transition for agencies that do have Dictaphone products. A representative from NICE,

Tim Walker, was there to answer questions and provide food for the meeting.

It was also suggested that the chapter look into hosting another regional conference.

Maybe 2007?

There has been a changed in location for the July 19 APCO meeting – it will be held at

the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Training Academy and the October 18 will be at

Outagamie County.

Meeting was adjourned at 11:25am.
